St. Margaret's

Children from Year 6 visited Killerton House and attended their Victorian workshops as part of their Victorian project.

Harvest Festival was held before half term and a number of parents attended. The children brought many gifts which were delivered to St. Margaret's Church for distribution.

Some children took part in a cross-country festival held at Moreton Park and organised by Bideford College.

The Upper School went to the Queen's Theatre to see Shakespeare for Kids and saw a performance of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'.

Year 6 took part in a demonstration of a Hindu Wedding.

Friends of St. Margaret's School held a disco in the school for the children.

Some of the children and the Head attended a presentation on mediation training which can sort out minor playground problems as part of the Buddies scheme.

Parent/Teacher interviews for the term are being held.

On 4th December St. Margaret's School Christmas Fayre is being held in school at 3.30 p.m.. All are welcome.

Rehearsals are taking place for the Christmas Productions. The dates are as follows......

Upper School – afternoon of 12th December and evening of 13th December

Lower School – afternoon of 5th December and evening of 6th December..

5th December - Mrs. Vinall is taking some children to a Christian Aid concert in Bideford.

14th December – Mrs Vinall is also taking some children to give a concert to the Northam Men's Forum.

13th December - Christmas Lunch

15th December Year 3 are going to the pantomime in Barnstaple.

19th December is the last day of term and there will be a Christmas Carol service in church at 9.30am..

 

 

St. George’s    

Parents evenings have taken place just before half-term.

Michelle, the Home School Link Worker holds a coffee morning on the first Friday in the month from 9am - 10.00am. She is also in Class 2 on Thursday afternoons from 2.00 pm making resources for the children and welcomes any parent who would like to attend - there is tea or coffee as well!

The ‘Music Club' and the ‘Healthy Eating' Club are going well and all have had a great response from the children. The next groups of children are taking part in the clubs from half-term.

Six students from Rolle College and North Devon College are doing work experience in the school this term.

Canopies have been erected during half term outside the reception classes. These will enable outdoor play for the children and provide shelter for parents while collecting children after schoo

Native broadleaved trees and shrubs have been planted in a hedgerow in the school grounds at the front by the fencing in a joint operation with the Woodland Trust. This is part of the 'Woodland Trust's Tree For All campaign' which will see one million children plant 12 million trees.

Mrs. Prior will be leaving the school to take up a post as Deputy Head Teacher at a nursery school in Bristol. She has been with the school in the nursery and reception classes for many years and will be missed but we all wish her well in her new post.

The children have been collecting and filling shoe boxes for the 'Operation Christmas Child Shoe Box appeal'. It has raised their awareness of children less fortunate than themselves.

Saffron Crowther whose name was drawn out of a hat, won the Barnaby Bear in the Barnardos colouring competition.

At a School Council meeting, the children asked if a bike/scooter shed could be provided. A survey is being taken to see how many children would be able to cycle to school regularly as parents would have to cycle with them.
